George M. Hunt, 87, of Houtzdale died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 at UPMC Altoona. Born Jan. 31, 1927, he was the son of Sidney and Beulah Hunt.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Houtzdale. He was also a member of the Houtzdale American Legion Freeberg Post No. 591.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He had worked as a truck driver for Isenberg Produce and Penn State Produce before retiring from Smeal Auto Parts of Philipsburg.
On Feb. 27, 1949, he married Leatrice (Cupler) Hunt, who survives in Houtzdale.
Also surviving are a son, George L. Hunt and his wife, Mary of Owings Mills, Md.; a daughter, Marsha Srock of Smoke Run; three grandchildren, Regina Hunt, Christina Ripps and Janelle Hollenbaugh; a great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a grandson, Ryan Foreman; three brothers, Kenton, Howard and Robert Hunt; and four sisters, Lois Santincerio, Margaret Dinante, Mildred Rodkey and Joanne Bacher. He was the last of his generation.
At Mr. Hunt’s request, there will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
