ALTOONA – The Non-Invasive Laboratory of UPMC Altoona received a three-year accreditation from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).
The accreditation is in the areas of peripheral arterial testing, extracranial cerebrovascular testing and peripheral venous testing.
Accreditation by the IAC means the department has undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. The IAC grants accreditation only to those facilities found to be providing quality patient care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process, including a detailed case study review.
The lab performs vascular testing, which is helpful in the diagnosis of heart disorders, stroke and other diseases related to the heart and blood vessels.
Accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that the facility has been carefully critiqued on all aspects of its operations by medical experts in the field of vascular testing.
