David L. Pearce Sr., 80, of Philipsburg died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at his residence.

Born June 19, 1934 in Clymer, he was the son of the late Edward Lloyd and Alice Elizabeth (Downing) Pearce and his step-mother, Louise Irene Pearce.

He married the former Mildred Iris Huey on June 15, 1963 at Union Church in Aultman; she preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 2014.

He was a Protestant by faith.

Mr. Pearce and his wife, Iris, were actively involved in cub and boy scouting for many years, where he was a leader of Pack and Troop 41 in Chester Hill.

He was a member of Two C’s and a Bee Association for beekeepers in Colver.  Mr. Pearce was a lifetime beekeeper, gardener, hunter, fisherman and boater.

He began originally as a lineman with various independent electrical contractors. He then went to work as a lineman with Penelec for many years until his retirement.

Mr. Pearce was a 1952 graduate of the Marion Center Joint High School in Marion Center.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Gavin Pearce; two sisters, Wilma Grace Smith and Patricia Ann Pendelton; three brothers, John Wesley, Clayton Leroy and Norman Ralph Pearce; a step-brother, Harvey Glenn Casaday; a sister-in-law, Esther Pearce; and his mother and father-in-law, Charles and Evelyn (Manges) Huey.

Mr. Pearce is survived by a daughter, Debra Iris Ralston of Cary, NC; three sons, David L. Pearce Jr. and his wife, Tamara of Shade Gap, Thomas G. Pearce and his wife, Mary Kay of Osceola Mills and Charles E. Pearce and his wife, Michelle of Woodbury; a step-sister, Norma Smith and her husband, Jim or Carteret, NJ; three brothers, Edward Pearce of Waukegan, Ill., Donald Pearce and his wife, Rosangela of Nashua, NH and Harold Pearce and his wife, Donna of Tipton; and a step-brother, James Cassidy and his wife, Shirley of Ebensburg.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Katie, Krystal, Hannah, Madolynne and Adam Pearce, David Pearce III and Bobby Ralston and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg with the Rev. Dr. Mary Jo Bruinooge officiating.  Burial will be at the Burnside Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor’s local boy or girl scouting groups or their national scouting organization.
