Clearfield School Board Approves Settlement Regarding Girard-Goshen

CLEARFIELD – During Monday night’s combined committee and board meeting, the Clearfield school board approved the settlement and release agreement with Hallstrom-Clark Electric Inc., Overdorf Mechanicals Inc. and Hickes Associates in the amount of $195,000 in regards to the construction of the Girard-Goshen Elementary School.

The board voted to temporarily close Girard-Goshen in October of 2010 when its roof was determined to be structurally deficient. Its staff and approximately 70 students were relocated to the current Clearfield Area Elementary School. The board voted to permanently close Girard-Goshen at a June of 2012 school board meeting.

In other business, the board voted, 8-1, to approve a contract with the Clearfield Education Support Professional Association pending ratification by members of CESPA. It was noted by Superintendent Terry Struble that it included positions, such as paraprofessionals and secretaries, and it was retroactive from July 1, 2014 and effective through June 30, 2018.

The board also voted, 8-1, to approve a Memorandum of Agreement for extra-curricular positions with the Clearfield Education Association. According to the MOA, the district and the CEA have agreed that the:

Board members Mary Anne Jackson, Larry Putt, Phil Carr, Jennifer Wallace, Tim Morgan, Rodney Rishel, Gail Ralston and Susan Mikesell voted in favor of both the CESPA contract and the MOA with the CEA. Board member Dr. Michael Spencer opposed both motions.
