Senator Jake Corman (R-34) has been elected to serve as Majority Leader of the Pennsylvania State Senate.

Corman previously chaired the Senate Appropriations Committee and has served as a member of the Banking and Insurance, Education, Game and Fisheries, Rules and Executive Nominations, and State Government Committees.

As majority leader, his duties include overseeing the Senate’s legislative agenda, developing policies and strategies for the Senate Republican Caucus, chairing the Senate Rules and Executive Nominations Committee and playing a key role in floor debates.  He will also have a major role in negotiating legislative issues with the Administration and House of Representatives and in supervising action on the Senate floor.

“As chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, my top priority was controlling spending and keeping taxes down for working families and job-creators,” Corman said.

“As Majority Leader, I will continue to promote fiscal responsibility, ensure that government lives within its means and work to bring consensus on issues that are important to state residents.”

Corman obtained an Associate’s degree in communications from the Pennsylvania College of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University.

Joining him in the Senate Republican Leadership team are Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-25), Senate Majority Whip John Gordner (R-27) and Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Pat Browne (R-16).
