Helen R. Steele, 90, of Bellefonte and formerly of West Decatur, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born May 23, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and LaGolda (Hoover) Fleck. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg.
Mrs. Steele had been employed as an assembler at Tri-Boro Electrics in Hightstown NJ for many years until her retirement.
She was married to Homer Roy Steele on Sept. 7, 1942 in Philipsburg. He preceded her in death Oct. 19, 2005.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Homer Richard and Charles Robert Steele; five sisters; and three brothers. She was the last member of her generation.
She’s survived by three daughters, Bertha R. Steele of Bellefonte, Marion E. Wilks and her husband, John “Jack” of Port Matilda and Jane A. Wilson and her husband, the Rev. J.S. Wilson of State College.
She’s also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, with the Rev. J.S. Wilson, son-in-law of Mrs. Steele, and the Rev. Ryan Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
