CLEARFIELD – A suspect was arrested for an alleged spree of daytime home burglaries after an investigation spanning more than one week, announced Police Chief Mark Brooks at Tuesday night’s Lawrence Township Supervisors’ meeting.
Brooks identified the suspect as Eric Lamoreau, 26, of Mahaffey. He was apprehended with assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Borough police, Punxsutawney police and members of the public.
Local officers Julie Curry and Elliott Neeper spearheaded the investigation, according to Brooks. He explained that Neeper worked with the members of the public who provided him with information. “In my mind, he went over and above the call,” said Brooks.
He added, “Members of the public need to be commended [for their assistance]. They will know who they are for reaching out to law enforcement. Without the public, I don’t think we would have solved this case as fast.” Brooks declined to name anyone who provided information to law enforcement.
Brooks said that the suspect allegedly parked his car in a rural area and used a white bag to fake a break down. Then, he and a possible co-conspirator allegedly went door-to-door to see who was at home. Brooks noted that the possible co-conspirator is still a focus of investigation.
