Robert Lynn Dixon, 88, of Osceola Mills died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.
Born July 22, 1926 in Rush Township, he was the son of the late Sanford and Abby (Burley) Dixon.
He married Phyllis (Daughenbaugh) Dixon on Oct. 28, 1988 in Cumberland, Md.; she survives at home.
Mr. Dixon was of the Christian faith.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 5020 and the American Legion, both of Osceola Mills.
He was a life member of the Columbia Fire Company in Osceola Mills and the Penn State Local Union No. 8.
Mr. Dixon retired in July of 1991 from the Penn State University as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed his Kubota, hunting, helping with dinners at the Columbia Fire Hall and dining out.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
Along with his wife, he’s survived by many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills, with the Rev. Donald Dixon and Pastor William Murphy officiating.
Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
