Jean Thurston, 89, formerly of Clearfield and Altoona and most recently of The Winds in Duncansville, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014 at UPMC Altoona.
She was born Nov. 1, 1924 in Ansonville, the daughter of John E. and Viola Pearl (Barrett) Camberg. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clearfield.
She had worked for Harleysville Insurance of Altoona for 28 years.
She’s survived by a son, Charles L. Thurston Jr. of Strasburg, Va.; a brother, John “Jack” Camberg and his wife, Joan, of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles L. Thurston, whom she married March 8, 1947 and whom died Nov. 6, 2009; a brother, Wilbur Camberg; and a daughter-in-law, Nena Thurston.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with Pastor Robert Achey officiating.
Burial will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until the hour of the services Sunday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the First Baptist Church, 111 N. Second St., Clearfield, PA 16830, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
