Obituary Notice: Michael T. Dunlap

Michael T. Dunlap, 33, of Philipsburg died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014 at his residence due to complications from a recent illness. Born Feb. 28, 1981 in Clearfield, he was the son of Clyde and Dorothy Haversack Dunlap of Philipsburg.

He was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Philipsburg. He was confirmed in 1997; he was an altar boy.

Mr. Dunlap was a 1999 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola High School, where he was a member of the football team. He was distinguished as the only member to play from junior through senior high without missing a practice or game.

He played Little League and Teener League for Osceola Mills. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. He was a member of Boy Scouts of America, Troop No. 49, Philipsburg. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoor activities.

Mr. Dunlap is survived by a sister, Amanda M. Dunlap of Palatine, Ill.; a brother, Adam P. Dunlap of Philipsburg; maternal grandparents, Walter C. and Patricia L. Haversack of Hyde; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William Sr. and Patricia Dunlap and maternal great-grandmother, Sophia D. Wisor.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home, Morrisdale, with the Pastor Tina Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Morrisdale.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 p.m. until the hour of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Because Mr. Dunlap loved animals and adopted so many, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield County Society for Prevention to Cruelty to Animals, 275 21st St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
