CLEARFIELD – Staff members at Visit Clearfield County (VCC) have announced the weekly events for Oct. 24-30.

Ritz Theater, downtown Clearfield

The theater’s lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. You can grab some popcorn, even if you cannot attend the movie showings. For movies and show times, please call 814-765-5835.  Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children (12 years and under) and senior citizens (60 years and older).

All about the Moon

Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center

Friday, Oct. 24

The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center will present “All About the Moon,” through Nov. 1. Highlights are “The Moon: Cosmic Decoder Ring” 3D exhibit, a mini “planetarium,” moon folklore and myths and video features about the moon in our theater.

Accuweather.com astronomy blogger Mark Paquette will give a special presentation about the moon for older kids and adults. The presentation, which features stunning images and graphics, will be held two times that day: 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The program is included in the regular admission price.

There will be regular $5 per person (children 2 years and under free) admission. Hours are from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday through Saturday. For more information, please call 814-938-1000. The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center is located at 201 N. Findley St., Punxsutawney.

Haunt Season “Freaks”

Ravenwood Manor

Ravenwood Manor’s Haunt Season “Freaks” is open now until its last weekend on Nov. 1-2. Kids are admitted free and tickets are $12 for adults.

The ticket booth opens at 7 p.m. each night and closes at midnight. Personal checks and credit cards are not accepted for payment.

The groups entering the mansion consist of seven to nine guests. Most children who are under the age of 8 years often cannot make it through the attraction.

The Haunted Attraction Tours last approximately 26 minutes and pass through three floors of mayhem.  Dozens of seasoned actors have been waiting for the arrival of guests.

No use of photography is permitted inside the premises.

The haunted mansion is located at 3263 Crossroads Blvd., Beccaria. For more information, please visitwww.hegartymansion.com.

Haunted Hay Ride

Bilger’s Rocks

On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25, the annual haunted hay ride will be held at Bilger’s Rocks, beginning at dusk. Admission is $5.

Also, there will be a pumpkin judging contest for kids who are 12 years and under. Kids can bring their decorated pumpkins for a chance to win a prize. Prizes will be awarded in two age groups – 6 years and under and 7 – 12 years.

Farmers Market, downtown DuBois

Saturday, Oct. 25

The downtown DuBois farmers markets will continue every Saturday through Oct. 25. The farmers markets will be open from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Long Avenue and Brady Street parking lot.

GPS Basics, Parker Dam

Meet at 1 p.m. – Environmental Education Classroom

Learn the basics of how a recreational GPS receiver works and get some practice using its basic functions. If you’ve ever thought about geocaching, learn what this popular sport is all about. Join a staff member for an interpretive presentation on basic ways to identify animal skulls and pelts from Pennsylvania native species. The program will be held at 1 p.m. and the location will be posted in the lobby of the Elk Center.

Benezette Bugle 5K

Elk Calf Half Mile Run

Saturday, Oct. 25

The Benezette Bugle 5K Run/Walk will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25; registration will be from 7 a.m. – 8 a.m. The Elk Calf Half-Mile Run will begin at 10:30 a.m. for 10 and under and starts at the Benezette School House.

Proceeds will benefit the Benezette United Methodist Church. The cost is $20 per 5K Run/Walk participant and $10 per half-mile run participant. The Benezette School House is located at 105 School House Rd., Benezette.

Kids Ghost Hunt

Trick Trot 5K Zombie Run/One-Mile Walk

Events at Stew’s Brew Coffeehouse

Saturday, Oct. 25

A Kids Ghost Hunt, Trick Trot 5K Zombie Run/One-Mile Walk and other events at Stew’s Brew Coffeehouse will be held Saturday, Oct. 25 in downtown DuBois.

The event schedule will be: 8 a.m., registration for the Kids Ghost Hunt; 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., face painting and effects (prices vary); 2 p.m. – 3 p.m., Trick or Trot 5K Zombie Run and One-Mile Walk; 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., meet actors from Fox’s new show, “Hometown Haunts,” 7 p.m., Horror Film Festival at the Reitz Theater ($6 for mortals and $4 for zombies); 9 p.m. (or later), Zombie Trivia to immediately follow the Film Festival.

Participation in the Zombie Walk is free with a donation to Wesley’s Forever Home. Stew’s Brew Coffeehouse will also be having contests and games throughout the day, including the best zombie costume. Anyone interested in chasing runners during the 5K race is asked to stop in. The Hyde Wesleyan Church would like to invite the public to come to its Harvest Festival from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. It will feature live music by trumpeter Chiz Rider, Trunk or Treat, carnival-style games, food and friendly folks.

The Harvest Festival promises a safe environment, lots of candy and fun for the entire family. Kids through the sixth grade are invited to come dressed up in their costumes and to participate in the Trunk or Treat.

Halloween Spooktacular

On Saturday, Oct. 25, a Halloween Spooktacular will follow “Trunk or Treat” at Chidboy’s in Curwensville. The costume contest party is for infants through children in the sixth grade.

Judging will be at 4:30 p.m. and followed by awards until 5:30 p.m. at the Curwensville Community Center, 11 Stadium Dr., Curwensville.

Corn Maze

Borrowing Freedom

Through Nov. 2, the corn maze will be open at Borrowing Freedom. It’s open from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. Saturdays and from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sundays; admission is $5 per person per walk-through or ride.

Hayrides and pony rides are available on Sunday only. Also, there will not be any haunted hay rides this year.

From beginner to advanced, there will be high intensity strength and cardio training classes for 30 minutes. This is an eight-week course for $5 per class or $50 for the eight weeks. Aside from humans, no other animal changes its environment as much as the beaver.  They were once trapped for their prized fur– until they were gone from the Keystone State.  They have recovered and you can come learn more about them– how they live, their history, and the evidence they leave of their presence in the park.
