Shaw identified the fugitive as Melanie Joy Hartman, 22, of Forcey Road, Woodland. Hartman is wanted for failure to appear at sentencing court on Sept. 23.
On July 14, Patrolman Nathan J. Curry of the Clearfield Borough police filed a criminal complaint against Hartman. He charged her with access device fraud and receiving stolen property.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on July 5, police were dispatched to a residence on South Second Street for an alleged theft from a motor vehicle. Upon arrival it was found that someone had taken the victim’s wallet and $100 in cash from his vehicle.
The victim also told police that his driver’s license, social security card, check card and other personal items were in the wallet. Upon further investigation, it was found that Hartman and another individual had unlawfully utilized the victim’s check card on six occasions.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 23, at which time all charges were held for court. On Sept. 23, Hartman failed to appear for sentencing court and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
