William J. Twigg, 73, of Smoke Run died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at his residence. He was born Sept. 30, 1941, in Philipsburg, a son of the late William “Jack” Jr. and R. Virginia (Stiles) Twigg.
He was a 1959 graduate of the former B.C.I. High School. He had attended the former Smoke Run United Methodist Church.
He worked as a forklift operator for the Clearfield Cheese Plant for 30 years. He retired as a custodian from the Glendale School District.
He enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed restoring cars, especially his 1946 Ford pick-up.
On March 11, 1961 in the former Coalport Evangelical United Brethren Church, he married Beverly W. (Hadden) Twigg, who survives of Smoke Run.
He’s survived by four children, Deborah Smolko of Black Moshannon; Douglas J. Twigg (Karen) of Beccaria; Dawn Noel (William) of Irvona and William T. Twigg (Tracy) of Clearfield. He’s survived by eight granddaughters and one grandson.
He’s also survived by two brothers and a sister, Arthur “Jack” Twigg (Carol) and Cathy Lebda (John), both of Smoke Run, and Roger Twigg (Nadine) of Madera and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Ramey.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Clare L. Pannebaker officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hegarty’s Crossroads Cemetery, Beccaria Township.
