Bike-to-Work Day Will Highlight Campus, Community Efforts

UNIVERSITY PARK — The Fall Bike-to-Work Day will celebrate campus and community efforts to enhance sustainable transportation from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10, at the intersection of College Avenue and Allen Street in State College.

The event is sponsored by Penn State’s Sustainability Institute and Parking Office as well as the Centre Region Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Visitors will have the opportunity to register bikes and learn about the work being done to make the Centre Region more bikeable and walkable. (The Centre Region encompasses State College and the surrounding townships.)

The League of American Bicyclists has recognized State College-Centre Region as a Bicycle Friendly community and Penn State as a Bicycle Friendly campus.

Efforts to promote biking at Penn State have included bicycle lanes on roadways and the installation of four bicycle repair stations throughout campus.
