Eleanor M. Miller, 91, of Tyrone and formerly of Sandy Ridge, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 at UPMC Altoona.
Born June 9, 1923 in Osceola Mills, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Ella (Poorman) Murphy.
She married Eugene H. “Dick” Miller on Feb. 2, 1942 at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg; he preceded her in death Nov. 5, 2001.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg. She had been employed with the General State Authority in State College until retiring. She was a graduate and valedictorian of the Osceola Mills High School in the class of 1941.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four infant children; three brothers, Edward, John and James Murphy; and two sisters, Dorothy Kephart and Kathryn Christoff. She was the last of her generation.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her adopted granddaughter, Amy Carnahan of Bellefont; two sisters-in-law, Jane “Clip” Shuey and Marg Jessop; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg, with the Rev. Robert J. Kelly celebrant. Burial will be at the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg.
There will be no public visitation.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home in Philipsburg.
