Shaw: Information Sought in Counterfeit Checks Case

DUBOIS – Clearfield County Crime Stoppers is seeking information about a counterfeit checks case at the Shop ‘n Save Supermarket in Sandy Township, announced District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. today.

In June, Sandy Township police received a report about an unknown male who had passed several counterfeit checks at the Shop ‘n Save Supermarket. Upon investigation it was found he’d passed eight counterfeit checks between June of 2013 and June of this year, stated Shaw.

Additionally, it was found that the male had used the following alias names on the counterfeit checks: Mark Stein, Paul Reed, Arthur Street, Craig Cerico, David Curtz and David Luna.

He was described as a Caucasian male, standing approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He was in his late 30’s or early 40’s and had a thin build. He also had brown hair, a beard and wore glasses.

The male, Shaw stated, obtained approximately $1,209.10 worth of merchandise from the Shop ‘n Save Supermarket. The incident, he stated, is currently under investigation at this time.

Shaw stated the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers is seeking any information about this use of counterfeit checks at the Shop ‘n Save Supermarket. He added that the Clearfield County Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for passing these counterfeit checks.
