Centre County Bridge Work Continues

STATE COLLEGE – As fall begins, repair and rehabilitation work continues on a Centre County bridge rehab contract.

Once work is complete, area drivers will enjoy safer travel on bridges that will remain in service for years to come.

For the week of Sept. 22, activity at each site will feature:

Route 64 Bridge (Near Nittany):

Route 322 Westbound Bridge (Overpass at Reese Hollow Road/East Mountain Road Exit):

Route 322 Bridge (the End of State College Bypass):

Route 3040 Bridge (Julian at intersection with Beaver Road):

Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this project. Overall work includes beam rehabilitation, deck and concrete repairs, guide rail updates, roadway paving and pavement markings.

Message boards in the area will give drivers advanced warning of restrictions and delays. Drivers are reminded to be alert for flaggers in the roadway, obey posted speed limits, move through work zones with caution and always buckle up.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24-hours-a-day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 700 traffic cameras.
