CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the fugitive as Sirena Michelle Schachtner, 20, of West Long Avenue, DuBois. Schachtner was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Sept. 8.

On March 27, Trooper Robert McGarvey of the Pennsylvania State Police, DuBois barracks, filed a criminal complaint against Schachtner. He charged Schachtner with accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed; careless driving; drivers required to be licensed; and vehicle entering or crossing roadway.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on May 22, 2013, state police were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle crash with injuries on Route 322 in the area of Spruce Hill Road, Union Township. Upon investigation it was found that Schachtner was the operator who pulled out in front of another vehicle, which was traveling eastbound on Route 322.

The vehicle operated by Schachtner was impacted on the driver’s side, causing serious bodily injury to three passengers. It was determined that Schachtner did not possess a valid driver’s license at the time of the crash.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 2, at which time all charges were held for court. On Sept. 4, Schachtner failed to appear for criminal call and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Shaw stated that on Sept. 8, troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police, DuBois barracks, apprehended Schachtner and she was taken into custody without incident. Schachtner is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.

Shaw thanked the Pennsylvania State Police for their assistance with this case.
