SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) — A slain Pennsylvania state trooper is being remembered as an impeccable officer who always put his family first.

Police Commissioner Frank Noonan says everyone admired 38-year-old Bryon Dickson, who could always be counted on for advice and support.

Noonan addressed family members and hundreds of police at Thursday’s funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton. Dickson was gunned down late Friday outside a rural barracks in the Pocono Mountains.

Cpl. Derek Felsman says Dickson held himself to the highest standards in every aspect of his life. He described flawless wood toys that Dickson handmade for his young sons.

Police are still searching for the suspected shooter, 31-year-old Eric Frein (freen). Another trooper was wounded in the ambush.
