Philipsburg Man to Stand Trial in Rape Case

CLEARFIELD – All charges were held for court against a Philipsburg man accused of rape after a preliminary hearing during Centralized Court on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.

Kevin Karl Kephart, 49, of Philipsburg has been charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, indecent assault and harassment. His bail has been set at $100,000 monetary.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on the night of Sept. 8, Kephart had allegedly consumed alcohol and started being verbally abusive toward the victim. He was upset over a fine imposed against him.

During the incident, Kephart allegedly grabbed the victim and removed her clothes. He allegedly started to choke her with his hands and dragged her into the bedroom by her hair. Kephart then allegedly choked the victim there using a pair of socks tied together.

Kephart allegedly proceeded to sexually assault and threaten to kill the victim. The victim was able to get away from Kephart and call 9-1-1.
