State police at Philipsburg
- An incident of theft occurred sometime between Aug. 1 and Aug. 20 in the first block of West Presqueisle Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, someone allegedly removed several Ativan pills from the victim’s residence. The incident, state police said, remains under investigation.
- No injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident Thursday on State Street in Rush Township. Grant L. Kline of Houtzdale was traveling south when he lost control of his vehicle; it traveled off the roadway and struck an embankment. Upon impact his vehicle overturned and landed on its wheels overtop of a drainage ditch. Kline refused medical treatment at the scene, according to state police, who noted he was found to have been consuming alcohol. State police also determined Kline was incapable of safe driving and he was taken to the Tyrone Hospital for blood testing. Charges are currently pending blood test results.
- Minor injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident Thursday on Interstate 99 in Patton Township. Dennis C. Luzier of West Decatur was traveling south and passed another vehicle. He returned to his lane and for unknown reasons traveled onto the west berm and off of the roadway. His vehicle traveled onto an embankment, at which point his passenger turned the wheel to return the vehicle to the roadway. The Luzier vehicle crossed both lanes of I-99 and traveled into the median. Both Luzier and his passenger were transported to the Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, state police said. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Luzier was cited for the accident.
- No injuries were reported after a single-vehicle accident Friday on Black Moshannon Road in Rush Township. Douglas W. Harpster of Philipsburg was traveling eastbound and starting to negotiate a left-hand curve in the roadway. He lost control of his vehicle on the wet roadway and went across both lanes and onto the north berm. His vehicle subsequently struck a tree before continuing east on an embankment. The Harpster vehicle came to a rest about 40 feet east of the initial impact. Harpster was wearing his seatbelt and not injured; he was cited for the accident.
- No injuries were reported after a two-vehicle accident Friday on East Presqueisle Street in Philipsburg Borough. Further, a 17-year-old Philipsburg boy was turning onto Presqueisle Street at a speed that was too fast for roadway conditions. He lost control of this vehicle on the wet roadway and it slid across the centerline, striking a vehicle operated by Scott J. McCracken of Clearfield, who was stopped at a red light. Both the boy and McCracken were wearing their seatbelts; the boy was cited for the accident.
- An incident of theft of services occurred Sept. 3 in the parking lot in the 500 block of North Seventh Street in Philipsburg Borough. During the incident, a male and female were allegedly observed putting trash in a dumpster rented by the victim for residents of a trailer court. The suspects, state police said, do not reside in the trailer court and the incident remains under investigation.
- An incident of criminal mischief occurred Friday or Saturday at the northern end of Cold Stream Road in Rush Township. During the incident, someone traveled onto the victim’s property after cutting the lock to the gate.
- An incident of harassment occurred Friday on Hemlock Drive in Halfmoon Township. During the incident, a 42-year-old Port Matilda man and the victim allegedly engaged in a verbal argument over groceries. Further, the man allegedly became upset, at which point he grabbed the victim by the throat and ripped her shirt. A witness, state police said, pushed the man to get him to let go of the victim; afterward the man fled the scene prior to police arrival.
- On Friday, an individual turned over a set of keys to state police. The keys had been found in the area of East Presqueisle and Sixth streets. The owner or anyone with information should contact the state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.
State police at Ridgway
- State police investigated a single-vehicle accident Saturday on the Bennetts Valley Highway in Jay Township. Upon investigation the operator was arrested for DUI and taken for blood testing at DuBois Penn Highlands. Charges are currently pending blood test results.
- An incident of burglary occurred Friday on Kennedy Street in Jay Township. During the incident, someone allegedly gained access through a window and removed items belonging to the victims. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the state police at Ridgway at 814-776-6136.
Lawrence Township
- Police received animal calls on Hill Street Extension and Kauffman Road. The residents, police said, were referred to Animal Control.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of disorderly conduct/truancy at the Clearfield Area Junior – Senior High School.
- Police received a report about a 9-1-1 hang-up call on Daisy Street Extension. Further, police made contact with the resident who wasn’t aware his phone had dialed 9-1-1 while he was mowing grass.
- Police assisted a lost motorist with locating a business on Route 322.
- Police stopped a motorist on Route 879 and found them to be driving without a license. During the course of the traffic stop, police also identified the operator and the passenger who were allegedly in possession of drugs and paraphernalia. Charges, police said, are currently pending at this time.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment.
- Police received a report about suspicious individuals at a local business.
- Police receive a report about child custody issues. The caller, police said, was referred to the appropriate agencies.
- Police were requested to check the welfare of a female on Good Street. Upon arrival police found her to be OK.
- Police were requested to check the welfare of a female and her child on Washington Avenue. Upon arrival police found everything to be OK.
- Police received a report about a suspicious person in a vehicle in the Calvary Cemetery on Park Avenue Extension. Upon arrival police handled the incident at the scene.
- Police received a report about an alleged domestic dispute on Jean Lane. Further, police handled the situation without incident.
- Police responded to a request for assistance along Legion Road.
- Police received a report about a missing juvenile in the Hyde area.
- Police received an alleged trespassing complaint that occurred at the Lawrence Park Village. The suspect, however, was gone prior to police arrival at the scene.
- Police received a report about an alleged retail theft and trespassing incident at the Wal-Mart Supercenter. Charges will be filed against the suspect, police said.
- Police assisted emergency medical services at a residence on Mapes Avenue.
- Police received a noise complaint that occurred on Grice Road.
- Police received a report about a female who was making suicidal remarks on social media.
- Police received a report about a 9-1-1 hang-up call on Byers Street.
- Police received a report about a neighbor dispute on Baney Road.
Sandy Township
- An 18-year-old Hanes Drive woman was allegedly seen by Wal-Mart employees Friday taking $430.40 in DVD’s and leaving the store without paying for them. Police located the woman walking in the Wal-Mart parking lot. She admitted to taking the items and charges are being filed.
- On Friday, police received a report about a man who was allegedly lying on a dirt road behind the Commons shopping center. Upon arrival police found the man had taken a bus from State College and decided to get off in DuBois, where he had been wandering around for two days. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and transported him to DuBois Penn Highlands for an evaluation.
- A 34-year-old DuBois woman allegedly left her dog in her vehicle while she was in K-Mart talking to a friend on Friday. When police arrived at the scene, the vehicle appeared to be getting hot; police had the woman paged and warned her against leaving her dog in the vehicle.
- On Friday, an 80-year-old woman reported that she had agreed to have her 50-year-old neighbor do some work on her Country Place property. However, she told police that they had a dispute over how the man was going to get paid. The woman, police said, was afraid the man was going to damage her property. Police handled the situation without incident.
- On Friday, Treasure Lake Security reported that the operators of two vehicles allegedly passed through the back gate without cards. Both of the vehicles attempted to go through at the same time, causing damage to the gate. Police contacted the owners of the vehicles and handled the situation without incident.
- A man reported that his Jack Russell dog ran away while he was at Morningside Cemetery on Friday.
- A 77-year-old Judge Road man reported Friday that someone drove through and caused minimal damage to his yard.
- On Saturday, a 51-year-old man and a 49-year-old man allegedly got into a fight about an ex-girlfriend. One of the men had a cut on his head and was evaluated and released by emergency personnel. Both men had allegedly been drinking and neither wanted to file charges. The situation, police said, was handled without incident.
- On Saturday, a 22-year-old Kiwanis Trail man lost control of his vehicle on Kiwanis Trail, causing it to strike two mailboxes before coming to rest partially off the roadway. Alcohol appeared to be a factor and charges are currently pending, police said.
- A 23-year-old Sigel man got into an accident in the McDonalds parking lot on Saturday. Upon arrival police felt the man exhibited signs of being impaired so he was subjected to field sobriety testing, which he failed. The man was taken to DuBois Penn Highlands for a legal blood draw. Charges, police said, are currently pending at this time.
- On Sunday, a Home Camp Road resident reported hearing gun shots and an explosion coming from the area of Sher De Lin Road. Further, police located two men who were shooting at exploding targets.
