Penn State officials are carefully monitoring weather forecasts for Saturday, Sept. 6, when the Nittany Lions host the University of Akron in their home football opener at Beaver Stadium. Kick-off is set for noon. In response to weather forecasts calling for showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 4 p.m., officials are urging fans to be alert to the possibility of lightning accompanying storms.
