Irene Smeal, 88, of Philipsburg died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born May 29, 1926 in Morrisdale, she was the daughter of the late Earl M. and Lettie M. Wisor Williams.
Mrs. Smeal was a member of the Summit Hill United Methodist Church, Morrisdale. She was a homemaker.
She was married to Arthur J. Smeal on March 14, 1943. He preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1992.
She’s survived by a daughter, Janice Beals and her husband, Mahlon of Philipsburg and two sons, Ivan L. Smeal and his wife, Naomi and Dennis L. Smeal and his wife, Sandy, both of Philipsburg.
Mrs. Smeal is also survived by a sister, Donna Dinant of New Castle; seven grandchildren, Mahlon Beals III and his wife, Sue, Tammy Vroman and her husband, Fred, Dennis Smeal Jr. and his wife, Jeanette, Melinda Burge and her husband, Brian, John Sheroke and his wife, Georgette, Daniel Smeal and Holly Lingenfelter and her husband, Thor; 12 great-grandchildren, Amber and her husband, Todd, Brandon, Nathan, Eric, Andrew, Shane, John, Ehlana, Krista, Payton, Chase and Julia; and four great-great-grandchildren, Luke, Kendall, Todd and Taylor.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Ivan L. Smeal Jr., four sisters and six brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Home with the Pastor Tina Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Summit Hill United Methodist Cemetery, Morrisdale.
Friends will be received from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
