Andrew Comitz Jr., 87, of Osceola Mills died on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014 at his home.
Born Aug. 6, 1927, he was the son of the late Andrew Comitz Sr. and Anna (Hortuck) Comitz.
He married Rita (Bagrosky) Comitz on Aug. 18, 1951 in Houtzdale; she survives at home.
Mr. Comitz was a member of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Osceola Mills.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 5020 and the American Legion No. 313, both in Osceola Mills; the B.P.O. Elks in Philipsburg; and the Bavarian Club in Altoona.
He was a meat cutter for the former A&P Super Market in Osceola Mills and Philipsburg, totaling 35 years. He retired in 1988 from the Philipsburg-Osceola School District after five years. He was a 1945 graduate from the former Osceola Mills High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Grundusky and Mayme Hartzfeld and one brother, John Comitz.
Along with his wife, Mr. Comitz is survived by a daughter, Barbara Danko and her husband, Doug of New Castle; two sisters, Anna Renwick of York and Margaret Olenick of Chester Hill, Philipsburg; three granddaughters, Maj. Allison McFeatters and her husband, Dale, Andrea Wagner and her husband, Bradley and Ashley Pavone and her husband, Peter; and three great-grandchildren, Landon and Lilah Wagner and Dale D. McFeatters.
A burial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church in Osceola Mills, with Archimandrite Jacob Piruta officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills.
Panikhida will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Military honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard at the cemetery.
