Lock Haven University Hires New Band Director

LOCK HAVEN – Lock Haven University has welcomed Seth Wollam as the University’s Band Director.

Wollam received his Bachelor’s degree at Youngstown State University in music education, and his Master’s degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in wind conducting. His Doctorate is pending his dissertation with the University of North Texas.

Wollam brings with him a diverse background in music. Previously, Wollam held roles of assistant marching band director and director of bands.

Most recently, Wollam was a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas, where he was the assistant and guest conductor with all wind studies area ensembles, instructor of record for Fundamentals of Conducting, and a guest lecturer.

Wollam has had many professional experiences including assistant conductor of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra and doctoral conducting associate and teaching fellow at the University of North Texas.

Additionally, he has been on both the performing and production ends of recording projects, written numerous publications, and received several awards.

Most recently, Wollam presented a paper titled Repertoire and Legacy: Education’s Impact on Wind Band Literature at the IGEB Conference in Hammelburg, Germany, and guest conducted the advanced wind orchestra at the Stuttgart Music Academy.

When asked about his position, Wollom stated, “I am very happy to be at Lock Haven University and look forward to working with the students, faculty and staff, as well as the community.”
