Robert M. Knarr, 88, of DuBois died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Mr. Knarr was born Aug. 22, 1926 in Brady Township, the son of Calvin Paul and
Vera Almeta (Coon) Knarr.
He had worked for Schneider Motors, DuBois Brewing Co., Kitchens-by-Basil and Rocky Mountain Railcar. He was also a self-employed residential contractor.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in the European Theater.
Mr. Knarr was fond of the outdoors and loved to camp, fish and hunt. He was also a master craftsman and wood carver.
He’s survived by his wife, Leoda M. (Peterson) Knarr, whom he married Feb. 15, 1947; five children, Diane (Knarr) Maynard and her husband, Ron of Brighton, Colo., Randy Knarr and his wife, Brenda and Jody Knarr, both of DuBois, Kevin Knarr and his wife, Susan of Portage and Sheri (Knarr) Andrews and her husband, Jim of Jupiter, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Mr. Knarr was the last member of his generation. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Knarr; four brothers, Violus D., Clifton, Calvin and Wilbur Knarr; three sisters, Wanda (Knarr) Shaffer, Gwendolyn (Knarr) Benzino and Caroline (Knarr) Durkin; and a granddaughter, Heather Lynn Himes.
Honoring Mr. Knarr’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery.
