Irene (Dufour) Solensky, 90, of Houtzdale and a guest of Ridgeview Elder Care, Curwensville, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014.
Born March 11, 1924 in Atlantic, rural Houtzdale, she was the daughter of Modest and Celine (Finney) Dufour.
She was a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale. She was also a member of the church Altar and Rosary Society.
She retired after 47 years as a linotype operator for Lloyd Manufacturing Stamp Works, Houtzdale.
On Aug. 23, 1947 in St Lawrence Church, Houtzdale, she married Lawrence Solensky, who preceded her in death on July 29, 1948.
She’s survived by a brother, Modest Dufour of Houtzdale; two sisters, Elizabeth Buynak and Marie Flango and her husband, Anthony, both of Houtzdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a sister, Shirley Dufour; an infant sister; and a brother, Alexander.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Father William Laska as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Monday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.
The Altar Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
