James E. “Ed” Spencer Sr., 76, of Clearfield died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014 at UPMC Altoona. Mr. Spencer was born Aug. 2, 1938 in Clearfield, the son of Ralph and Esther Spencer.
He had been employed by Glen-Gary Brick, the Floods Service Station and the Leitzinger’s Department Store. He was an avid bowler.
He’s survived by two children, Susan C. Lanich and her husband, Paul and James E. Spencer Jr., and his wife, Connie, all of Clearfield.
He’s survived by four grandchildren, Heather Wicker and her husband, Andy, James Spencer III, Brianna Spencer and Ryan Spencer; five great-grandchildren, Martina Westcott, Tyleo Saudarg, Cameron Conklin, Andrew Wicker Jr. and Angeleena Wicker and a brother, Al Spencer.
Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Helen C. (Newpher) Spencer, whom he married April 8, 1961 and whom died April 12, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., of Clearfield with the Rev. M. Bruce Dimmick officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the hour of services at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
