Randy Clark and the Rusty Spurs
Corner Concert Series
Friday, Aug. 15
Randy Clark and the Rusty Spurs will perform at the Corner Concert Series on Friday in downtown Clearfield.
The corner concert will get under way at 7 p.m. in Shaw Park. The park is located across from the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library.
Clark is a local country singer/songwriter and recording artist. He has two albums of original music, which were recorded in Nashville, Tenn.
Ron Hipps and Doug Beveridge are well-established guitar players. Both have played for years with many other well-known local bands.
In 2014, the trio joined forces to create an electric, acoustic act known as Randy Clark and the Rusty Spurs. The trio plays Clark’s original music, as well as well-known classic country and country/rock songs.
This year’s corner concerts are used to raise monies and awareness for the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre. The CAST is a non-profit, live performance theater and arts center in downtown Clearfield.

Large Item Clean-up, DuBois

The Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group’s Beautification Committee will hold a large item clean-up on Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The volunteer group will come to residences and pick up items from outside that cannot be removed by the homeowners, such as old appliances, furniture, brush, tires and metal items.
Residents must call 814-591-2570 to get on the pick-up list; please leave your name, address, phone number and items to be picked up. The group will call to confirm within 24 hours.
This is a volunteer effort, according or organizers, but donations will be accepted. Receipts will be given for donations.
Any proceeds will benefit the DDRG and its efforts in and around downtown DuBois, including facade improvements, special events, green spaces, business recruitment, art projects, holiday promotions and much more.

Two shuttles will be transporting visitors to and from the ECVC all day. There is a $3 per car fee for parking and bus service. This fee helps pay for transportation.

Annual Antique and Custom Auto Show
Sunday, Aug. 17
The 38th annual Central Mountains Region Antique and Custom Auto Show will be held Sunday at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds, rain or shine.
Car show participant registration is $5. Admission and parking is free to the public.
Entertainment will be provided by Tim Winters Enterprises. There will be food vendors and an indoor and outdoor flea market in the fairgrounds.
Vintage antique, classic and muscle cars, custom and modified cars and trucks and motorcycles and other vehicles will compete for trophies in 19 classes. This year, it’ll be a judged car show.
All vehicles must have a working fire extinguisher to be judged, and there will be a number of participation awards given to car owners. These trophies will be sponsored by CJR Hobbies Classic Car Service and Appraisals.
Car registration will be open from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Trophy presentations will begin at 3:30 p.m. There will be a 50/50 and numerous drawings for door prizes.
In addition to class trophies, the following special trophies will be awarded the President’s Trophy, the Longest Distance Award, the Mayor’s Trophy, the A.J. Ross Sr. Memorial Post War Vehicle Award given by Charles and JoAnn Ross, the Frank Rumfola Memorial All-Modified Truck Award, the Dotts Motor Co. Best Ford of the Show Award, the Starr Hill Winery & Vineyard Award and the Best of Show Award.
The owners of the first 150 registered vehicles will each receive a dash plaque.

Free Movie, Grease

Bob Knepp of the Ritz Theater and the “Save the Ritz” Committee will host a free matinee movie to thank community members for their generosity and support with the purchase of the first digital projector.
The movie “Grease” will be shown at 2 p.m. Aug. 17. The doors will open at 1:15 p.m. and tickets will be handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis. Moviegoers are encouraged to get into the spirit and to dress up in a 1950’s outfit.
Donations will be accepted from those who wish to give. All proceeds will be split between the Ritz Theater and the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre (CAST).
Muddy Run Raceway
Summer Mud Derby & Make-A-Wish Benefit

Muddy Run Raceway is home to all kinds of mud racing. Beginning in 1990, families from across Pennsylvania and surrounding states packed up their cars and headed to Smoke Run for a day of muddy splashing and crashing. Races include classes for all-terrain vehicles, cars, 4×4 street trucks and professional trucks.
In one afternoon, spectators can see trucks racing side-by-side through a half-mile obstacle course, junk cars smashing each other in the Good Ole Boys, ATV riders pushing through the muck and trucks of all kinds struggling up the hill climb. There are also events held at other locations for drag racing and variety in the obstacle course.
Admission fees to Muddy Run Raceway events are $15 for adults, $5 for children (ages 6-12 years) and free for ages 5 years and under. Admission prices to events managed at other places will be posted on the newsletter page if they’re available. The gates open at 8:30 a.m. and racing starts at 12 p.m.

Stand Up Paddling Classes

It will be changing the face of disabilities one act at a time. This joint project offers a chance for individuals with disabilities to experience the creativity, expression and self-development offered by the theatrical arts.
From acting to set decoration to costumes, folks will have a chance to experience the full range of theater activities and to learn the valuable skills taught by each. This is a great chance to create and to express.
All of it leading up to a performance that is sure to enlighten and entertain. Showings will be Aug. 27 and 29 at the Reitz Theater in DuBois and Aug. 20, 28 at Quiet Creek Herb Farm in Brookville.
