James P. Walsh, 82, of Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at Christ the King Manor.
Born Aug. 22, 1931 in Corona, NY, he was the son of the late William and Delia (Bell) Walsh. On May 11, 1957, he married Mary N. (Hines) Walsh. She survives.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Pace College in New York with a degree in business.
Mr. Walsh retired as a salesman for Bank Building Corp. in St. Louis, MO after 20 years of service. Prior to that, he worked as a salesman for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company for more than 20 years.
He was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church. He also was a member and past president of the Treasure Lake Lions Club and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, where he was also a past president.
He was a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post No. 17. He was an avid reader and golfer. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and loved Irish music. Most of all, he loved being with his family.
Mr. Walsh is survived by his children, Susan Paterson and her husband, Wade of Plum Boro, James Walsh Jr. of East Haven, Conn., Noreen Frazier and her husband, Mark of Monroeville, Christopher Walsh and his wife, Pamela of Verona and Patrick Walsh and his wife, Janice of Mount Lebanon; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Winifred Mesko, Kathleen Dowd, Eileen Brady, and Margaret Walsh and one brother, William Walsh Jr.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Treasure Lake Lions Club service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
