Gerald L. Hoke Sr., 71, of Clearfield died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at the Valley View Nursing Home, Altoona. Born on Nov. 23, 1942, he was the son of the late Alvie Hoke and Leona (Williams) Charles.
Mr. Hoke worked in the coal mines all of his life. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 812, Clearfield, the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Club and the Clearfield Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 97.
He’s survived by two children, Carrie ‘Susan’ Lemasters and her husband, James of Valencia and Gerald Hoke Jr. of Clearfield; three grandchildren, Jodi Hoke and Allison and Alexander Lemasters; two great-granddaughters; two sisters, Emma Lanich of Bigler and Corrine Charles of DuBois; and a friend, Mary Jane ‘Jean’ Coudriet of Clearfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Charles.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Burial will be in the Stoneville Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice.
