DUBOIS – At last night’s Sandy Township meeting, Supervisor Dave Sylvis opened comments with “thanks [to] WhiteWave Foods for bringing jobs to the area.”
This comment was spurred by a visit to the newly renovated plant hosted by Plant Manager, Andy Morris, on Aug. 1. Attendees included several supervisors, other township representatives and the Clearfield County Commissioners.
Supervisor Chairman Jim Jeffers, who was in attendance at the tour, went on to express his opinion of Morris as “…a southern gentleman who expressed his wish… to do as much local business as possible, which is good for our economy.”
WhiteWave Foods is a packaged food and beverage company. Its remodeled manufacturing facility located in Clearfield County is anticipated to create 50-plus jobs initially within the area, a number which is anticipated to grow.
Other meeting business discussed included continued road work in the Mountain Run Road area, and a proposed amendment, which would allow veterinarians to locate in commercially zoned areas.
Concerns over noise level if kennels were placed outside were raised by Sylvis. After further discussion, the amendment was tabled until after continued discussion with the solicitor.
