Patricia Ann (Bennett) Doran, 77, of State College and formerly of Madera, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. She was born May 27, 1937 in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late William A. and Mary (Keyser) Bennett.
She married Andrew Doran Jr. on Oct. 17, 1959 in Philadelphia. He preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 1998. Mr. Doran served 30 years in the U.S. Navy and she traveled with him to Morocco, Africa and Rota, Spain.
She’s survived by a son and daughter, Andrew Doran III (Sandy) of Sevierville, Tenn. and Cindy M. Doran of State College; two grandchildren, HM2 Patrick Andrew Doran, U.S. Navy stationed in Kuwait, and Lindsey Christine Doran of Romeoville, Ill.; five step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary “Marsey” Scott of Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Buddy” Bennett and Harry “Harsey” Bennett; five sisters, Loraine “Rainy” Cannon, Doris “Lubby” Scott, Laverna “Wisey” James, Eleanor “Sippy” Kain and Joan; one step-grandson; and a step-great-granddaughter.
She attended the State College Assembly of God Church. She was a volunteer caregiver.
She had a contagious smile and a generous personality that drew people to her wherever she went. She was able to make everyone feel welcome and special, and her kindness and love will be missed.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Madera.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Harry Brotzman Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, Ansonville.
