“Hops & Vines”

Corner Concert Series

Friday, July 25

Christie Clancy and Jonathan McVerry of Hops & Vines will bring a “powerful voice and a skilled acoustic guitar” to the Corner Concert Series this Friday.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at the Shaw Park. The park is located across from the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library in downtown Clearfield.

This year’s concerts are to raise money and awareness for the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre. It is a non-profit, live performance theater and arts center in downtown Clearfield.

The CAST has provided stage plays, dance studios, summer acting camps, concerts and community events for many years. However, it’s struggled recently due to state grant funding cuts; local financial support and volunteers have slowly dwindled, as well, according to Steve Albert, concert organizer.

Friends of the CAST want to ensure that they can continue to provide the community with “a much-needed year-around arts and entertainment venue,” said Albert.

The Corner Concerts are free to the public, but a collection is received from those who are willing to give. Prizes, contests and special surprises are planned throughout the season.

Local musical guests provide entertainment with a different genre of music featured each week. Listeners can expect to hear country, soft rock, bluegrass, classical, jazz, blues or gospel on any given Friday night.

Albert invites community members to bring a chair and maybe a blanket on chilly evening. “[You’ll] enjoy a family friendly, community gathering reminiscent of days gone by.”
