The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that Rowan Wick, the State College Spikes’ single-season home run record holder, has earned promotion to the Single-A Peoria Chiefs. Wick took just 19 games to break the previous Spikes single-season home run record of 10, set by David Washington just last year. The Cardinals’ 2012 ninth-round draft choice currently leads the New York-Penn League with 14 homers, and also tops the league in runs batted in with 38.
