CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough and Lawrence Township police have teamed up with several other agencies to offer a seminar on robbery. Robbery is defined as “the crime of taking or attempting to take something of value by force or threat of force or by putting the victim in fear.”
“Many businesses have been victims of robbery and unfortunately many more businesses will fall victim to this crime,” police said. “We hope to address the concerns of local businesses, merchants and the banking community as it relates to dealing with robbery at the seminar.”
The seminar will be held on Aug. 14 at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School auditorium. The seminar will begin at 6 p.m. and last approximately two-and-a-half hours. Handouts will be provided to attendees that include literature on dealing with and preventing robbery.
The goal of the seminar, police said, is to educate local business owners and employees and to assist with the prevention or successful prosecution of the crime. “We also aim to aid the attendees to better understand the role of police officers at the crime scene and what they can do to assist in the investigation,” police said.
There isn’t any charge to participate in the seminar. However, an RSVP is preferred, although not required.
