Elizabeth Marie “Betty” Prave, 74, of Lumber City died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Born April 27, 1940 In Curwensville, she was the daughter of Simon J. “Sam” and Helen (Soltis) Kavelak.
Mrs. Prave was a homemaker. She had been a cosmetic consultant for Merle-Norman Cosmetics. She was retired from the Curwensville Area School District as a teacher’s aide.
She was a member of the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Hobby Garden Club. She was a 1958 graduate of Curwensville High School.
On July 1, 1961 in Curwensville, she wed Walter C. “Nick” Prave, who survives.
She’s survived by seven children, Paula L. Haley, Lisa G. Prave, Marla E. Linsenbigler and her husband, Corey and Marc E. Prave and his wife, Valerie, all of Curwensville; Dana A. McCahan and her husband, Dennis of Woodland; Joann L. Caldwell and her husband, Greg of DuBois; and Nick T. Prave and his wife, Janet of Brockway.
Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Holland and her husband, Dave of Curwensville and Mary Ann Truitt of Thompsontown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Agnes Houston and Beverly Palmer.
At the request of Mrs. Prave, there will be no public visitation and a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date.
