Ridge Road Stone Project Begins Next Week

EMPORIUM – Ridge Road will receive 2,330 tons of DSA limestone from Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. to repair the driving surface.

This project will occur the week of July 21, so there may be some delays when driving.  Employees will continue to haul shale from state forest lands onto the road surface to build the surface up for better water drainage this week, so be alert for heavy hauling and heavy equipment activity on Ridge Road between Hunts Run and Whitehead roads.

Work will begin shortly on Ridge Road just north of Chicago Springs to also build the road up and create better drainage. So, please use caution during this busy work season.

The funding for these projects is part of Gov. Tom Corbett’s initiative Enhance Penn’s Woods. This initiative will invest more than $200 million in facilities such as campgrounds, trails, roads, boat access, land acquisition and much more. It will enable the state Department of Conservation & Natural Resources to be better stewards of the parks and forests.

This investment is the largest short-term funding commitment to state park and forest infrastructure in the history of the commonwealth.
