Ricky E. Nelson, 48, of Grassflat died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at his residence. Born Aug. 18, 1965 in Philipsburg, he was the son of Ernest C. and Marlene Veres Nelson of Grassflat.
Mr. Nelson was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Grassflat. He was a 1984 graduate of the West Branch High School.
He was employed as a custodian at the West Branch High School. He was also self-employed in lawn care and landscaping.
He was a life member of the Grassflat Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of the L.O.O.M., Grassflat, No. 941, and the Cooper Township and Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Clubs.
Mr. Nelson is survived by two sisters, Connie L. Nelson and Mary Lou Nelson, both of Grassflat, and two brothers, Craig J. Nelson and his wife, Nicole of Philipsburg and Kevin J. Nelson of State College.
He is also survived by a niece, Kayci Nelson and two nephews, Trey Nelson and Parker Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Lucas Veres and his paternal grandparents, Algor and Eleverda Nelson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Grassflat, with the Father David A. Perry Jr. as celebrant.
Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Grassflat.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Grassflat.
