Anna Vaughan Lee Hinkle, 88, of Clearfield died Friday, July 11, 2014 at her home. She was born July 18, 1925, a daughter of the late Asbury Wright Lee Jr. and Jane Joplin Lee.
Mrs. Hinkle was an active member for more than 60 years of the Presbyterian Church of Clearfield, where she served as Sunday school teacher, deacon and elder. Mrs. Hinkle graduated in 1945 from the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr and attended Mount Vernon College in Washington D.C.
Always enjoying being involved with the community, she served on the board of directors of the Children’s Aid Society for 24 years. She also served as vice president of the Clearfield Heritage Foundation for eight years. She was employed in retail sales for 12 years in Clearfield.
She is survived by three children, Susan Hinkle Rosenberg and her husband, David of DuBois, Richard Philip Hinkle of Sarasota, Fla. and Edward Joseph Hinkle of Pleasant Gap; two grandchildren, Joshua Ian and Emily Ann Rosenberg; and many nieces and nephews whom held a special place in her heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Hinkle Jr., on Dec. 11, 2011 and whom she married on June 18, 1949; two brothers, Joseph Joplin Lee and Asbury W. Lee; and a sister, Mary Jane Lee Woolridge.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church, Clearfield, with the Rev. J. Robert Mellgard officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Children’s Aid Society, 1004 S. Second St., Clearfield, or to the Presbyterian Church, 119 N. Second St., Clearfield.
