CLEARFIELD – Patrolman Nathan Curry of the Clearfield Borough Police Department was recently honored for outstanding efforts in stopping aggressive driving.

Annually, police departments participating in the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement Project are invited to nominate an officer who has demonstrated his or her ability to identify and arrest those who speed, run stop signs, tailgate or perform other aggressive driving actions.

During the 2012-13 grant year, 15 police departments participated in the special project in PennDOT District 2’s nine-county region. PennDOT District 2 includes Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin and Potter counties.

The Clearfield Borough Police Department is among 109 select departments in the state participating in a special aggressive driving enforcement project through Sept. 14.

The Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project is funded by part of PennDOT’s $2.5 million investment of federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The next statewide enforcement wave started July 7. More than 330 municipal police agencies and the Pennsylvania State Police will take part in this targeted enforcement initiative.
