Lionel “Sonny” Clayton Hamer, 81, formerly of Morrisdale, died Wednesday, July 2 in Sunrise of Norwood after a brief illness.

He was born in Morrisdale to the late Harry E. and Beatrice Hamer. On Feb. 26, 1955, he married Christine Hynd, who survives him.

He is also survived by a daughter, Rhonda J. Camann and her husband, William R. Camann, MD, of Waban; his grandsons, Zachary A. Camann, MD, and his wife, Connie of Boston and Andrew Lawrence Camann of Groton, CT; a sister, Jean of Texas and a brother, Edward of West Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Philipsburg High School and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.  He retired from Crescent Brick Company in Clearfield.

He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, golfing and his involvement in antiques.  He was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church.

He was also a member of the Moshannon Lodge F&AM No. 391, the Williamsport Consistory and the Jaffa Shrine of Altoona. He was a past member of the Clearfield Shrine Club Oriental Band.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation c/o Deborah Hubler, 3644 Allport Cutoff, Morrisdale, PA 16858.
