Safety Day Held at Curwensville Lake

CURWENSVILLE – Clearfield Borough Police Department Patrolman Nathan Curry fits bicycle helmets for several children Saturday at Curwensville Lake Safety Day, including 7-year-old Kaleia Timko of Lancaster. Kaleia attended the event with her grandmother, Lynette Timko of Clearfield.

Attendees at Saturday’s event could take part in several stations to learn about safety. Exhibits included a driving simulator, bicycle skills course an information from Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. of Curwensville. Visitors were also invited to sign a crashed car as a pledge to buckle up not to drive impaired.

Organizers plan to make Curwensville Lake Safety Day an annual event with even more displays in the future.

Additional participants included the Clearfield County DUI Strike Force, PennDOT, the North Central Highway Safety Network and Friends of Curwensville Lake. The event was made possible thanks to Winters Sound, Tibbens Auto Body and Towing, Wal-Mart Distribution Center and Kurtz Bros.
