Corner Concert Series

Friday, June 20

Daityn Rothrock, a local musician who is active in the Christian music scene, will perform at the Corner Concert Series on Friday.

Rothrock describes himself as acoustic, pop-rock and he plays a variety of modern and classic tunes. His performance will begin at 7 p.m. in the Shaw Park.

This summer, the Corner Concerts are to support the CAST Theatre and the local musical artists. The concerts are free but donations will be accepted.

16th Annual Coalport Street Fair

10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

There will be free entertainment, including from the original “Sharp Tones,” from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. They will play music from the 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s.  The parade will form at the VFW and begin at 1 p.m.

There will be craft vendors, ethnic foods, a giant crazy auction and much more. Auction drawings start at 4 p.m. Also, the Kids Corner at Beechwood Park has games, free crafts, a petting zoo, food and more.

Join us for an informative presentation as we learn many fascinating facts about Pennsylvania’s largest mammal.  Learn about their physiology, life cycle, and some interesting information about their den sites.  Did you know that the average lifespan for a black bear is around 10 years, though they can live upward of 30 years in the wild!

The program will be at 1 p.m. in the Discovery Room. CAST Tour de Parks

Bike Ride and 7K

Sunday, June 22

Riders will have their choice of four ride options:  five, 15, 22 or 35 miles through beautiful, wooded areas and entirely on paved and dirt roads in the beautiful S.B. Elliott and Parker Dam State Parks.

The 7k (4.5 Miles) participants will travel the same basic path as the shortest bike ride.  All routes are well-marked with manned rest stops along the way.  Maps will be available for all participants the day of the event.

When the riders/walkers return, they will enjoy a picnic meal before heading home. Check-in opens at 11:30 a.m. on ride day at the pavilion at S.B. Elliot State Park and event participants depart at 1 p.m.

Helmets must be worn by all riders and all riders who are under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Interested participants can download a registration form from the CAST Web site, www.castbuilding.com, or call 814-765-4474. A form can be mailed to you or you can stop in the CAST office.  The registration fee is $20.

Tea and Talk, Parker Dam

The talk will be teas, and a few trees, and perhaps more. Music in the Garden

The Presbyterian Church of Clearfield will hold its summer program, “Music in the Garden.” From 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesdays, there will be music offered in the garden of the church, located at 119 N. Second St.

Each week will feature local musicians offering a wide variety of vocal and instrumental music. You can bring your lunch, a folding chair and join for music and fellowship.

Meet and Greet

Visit Clearfield County (VCC) would like to reintroduce itself to the community from 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. June 24 at the Expo I Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.

The event is open to all businesses, municipalities, social clubs, volunteers and interested citizens. It is an opportunity to meet the VCC staff and board of directors.

It will also be an opportunity to network and help each other grow. Anyone with an idea, tourism fats or photographs can share them; there will be an information center available.

Individuals can share information about their businesses, organizations and events, as well as learn about becoming a VCC partner or applying for its grant/funding programs.

Clearfield Writing Community Workshop

The Clearfield Writing Community is dedicated to the avid writers of Clearfield County who are interested in improving their skills, getting tips and information from other writers and getting their work out into the public.

They provide information and educational tools for all serious writers in the area who hope to achieve publication. A Facebook page is established for members to plan meetings and events, post their work, critique others and generally encourage one another to write and create.

You can find the Clearfield Writing Community on Facebook or join a regular workshop every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Market Street Gallery, located at 109 E. Market St. in downtown Clearfield.
