Curwensville Lake to Team with Police, PennDOT to Promote Safe Summer

CURWENSVILLE Curwensville Lake will host its first-ever Safety Day Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Safety Day will take place in the parking lot next to the beach at Curwensville Lake.

Several fun and educational activities will be available. The stations will be staffed by the Clearfield County DUI Strike Force, PennDOT and the North Central Highway Safety Network.

Safety Day stations include a driving simulator, a crashed car, a bicycle skills area and child passenger seat checks.

Regular Curwensville Lake admission fees will be waived for those who make a non-perishable food donation. All of the food items donated on Saturday will be given to food pantries in the Curwensville and Clearfield areas.

Those planning to take part in the bicycle skills area should bring their bicycle and bicycle helmet. A properly fitted helmet is required to participate in the bicycle activities.

A limited supply of bicycle helmets will be available to children who need them on a first-come, first-served basis. Bicycles will also undergo a safety check before participating in the skills area.

Child passenger seat checks will be conducted by a certified Child Passenger Seat technician. Participants should bring manuals for their vehicle and child seat(s), if possible.

All events are free of charge, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
