REYNOLDSVILLE – A tree was planted at Jeff Tech to honor a former instructor. Gene Crawford died Sept. 14, 2013 at his home in Brookville at the age of 84.

Crawford had worked as a carpentry instructor for 25 years, beginning when the school first opened in 1969.  In his memory and dedication to the school, his family on the west coast who could not attend his funeral asked that a Dogwood tree be planted to honor his years of service.

On May 30, Crawford’s wife, Jackie, accompanied by their two sons, Michael and Tom, headed to Jeff Tech for the tree planting.  The program that was once taught by Crawford is now known as building trades.  Dave Rishell is the current Building Trades instructor.  Students from Rishell’s building trades CTE program planted the tree for the Crawford family.
