Rita J. Knepp, 77, of West Decatur died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Born Oct. 31, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Elmer C. Sr. and Lillian Goss Laird of West Decatur.
Mrs. Knepp was affiliated with the Protestant faith. She’d worked for the former Target Clothing and Riverside Grocery Store in Clearfield and the former General Cigar Factory in Philipsburg.
She was married to Eldon A. Knepp on Feb. 6, 1954 in Bigler. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2013.
Mrs. Knepp is survived by one daughter, Michelle L. Hubler and her husband, Jim of Morrisdale and three sons, Dale V. Knepp and his wife, Sandy and Terry L. Knepp, both of West Decatur, and Kevin W. Knepp and his wife, Cindy of Philipsburg.
She’s also survived by one sister, Ann Crepeau of West Decatur; two brothers, Elmer C. Laird Jr. and his wife, Lana and Walter A. Laird and his wife, Peggy, both of West Decatur; six grandchildren, Alisha Williamson, Josh and Sam Knepp, Kelci Knepp, Lindsey Knepp and Amanda Hubler; his step-grandchildren, Nikki Bumbarger and James Rowles and his fiancée, Kayla; his great-grandchildren, Lainie and Matthew Williamson; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Chapel, Morrisdale, with the Rev. Sam Maines officiating. Burial will be in the Summit Hill United Methodist Cemetery, Morrisdale.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
