TYRONE – One of the ways members of the community support Tyrone Hospital is by joining the hospital family as a volunteer.
Members of the Tyrone Hospital family recognized hospital volunteers for hours of service donated to Tyrone Hospital during calendar year 2013 at a special luncheon held recently.
“We are pleased to have members of the community involved in the hospital, helping us fulfill our healing mission,” said Stephen Gildea, chief executive officer at Tyrone Hospital. “They are a very dedicated group of people and they support Tyrone Hospital in a very special way.”
In 2013, nine volunteer collectively donated 1,173 hours to support Tyrone Hospital. Volunteers and their annual and total hours donated were as follows: Jack Swiderski of Warriors Mark, 249 hours, grand total hours 5,017; Constance Baker of Tipton, 206 hours, grand total hours 1,978; Anna Mae Campbell of Tyrone, 121 hours, grand total hours 1,316; Merle Ammerman of Tyrone, 133 hours, 485 grand total hours; Brenda Boyles of Tyrone, 142 hours, 438 grand total hours; Bernie Hand of Tyrone, 134 hours, grand total hours 1,365; Diane Colpetzer of Tyrone, 38 hours grand total hours 54; Jessica Norris of State College, 33 hours; and Keturah Weaver of Tyrone 78 hours.
Retired hospital volunteer Frances Hunter of Tyrone was recognized for decades of service as a volunteer and more 10,600 hours of service donated. Jeff Wike of Altoona was also recognized for many hours donated to support events of the Tyrone Hospital Foundation and Tyrone Hospital.
