Friday, June 20
An Unforgettable Experience
8:30 p.m. – Campground Amphitheater
For the boys who were involved, the experience of being in the Civilian Conservation Corps is one that they have never forgotten. The work that they did is something that the rest of us should never forget. Come learn a little of what their experience was like and some of the achievements that they accomplished.
Saturday, June 21
Aliens!
10:00 a.m. – Environmental Education Classroom
They’re invading! Many alien species are destroying habitat at an alarming rate. Learn why they are so dangerous and how you can learn to identify them. Kids can participate in an alien invasion of their own.
GPS Basics:
1 p.m. – Environmental Education Classroom
Learn how to use a GPS unit to get around, find new places, and geocache. You can borrow one of the park’s units, or bring your own. Please dress to be outside.
Emerald Ash Borer
3 p.m. – Beach House
What is it and why may it be coming to a tree near you? These questions and more will be answered. Learn what to look for and what you can do about it.
Pennsylvania Wild Cat
7 p.m. – Environmental Education Classroom
This awe inspiring animal has intrigued many local populations; from Native American’s to early settlers, and even the people of today. Learn all about the natural history of the Bobcat and Pennsylvania’s management practices.
Sunday, June 22
Tea and Talk
7 p.m. – Beach House
The talk will be teas, and a few trees, and perhaps more. Bring your own mug for some of the park-grown Sweet Fern tea, and then relax and have an informal discussion with park naturalist Eric Rensel (who is back working at the park again) about a few trees – in particular Hemlock and Ash.
