CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of June 2.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Nicholas Joseph Peo, 38, of East Logan Avenue, Altoona. Peo is wanted for failure to appear at a preliminary hearing on May 23.
On April 26, Officer David Scott Johnson of the Sandy Township police filed a criminal complaint against Peo. He charged Peo with retail theft.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Feb. 21, police received a report about several thefts from businesses located in Sandy Township. Upon investigation it was found that Peo had unlawfully removed items from multiple stores.
Then, he sold the items at a pawn shop in Huntingdon. The stolen items were valued at approximately $789.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 23, at which time Peo failed to appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Peo is described as a Caucasian male standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He has brown eyes and black hair.
